FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE SPORT AND ARE IN NO WAY A GUARANTEE AGAINST INJURY
OR DEATH TO A PARTICIPANT, SPECTATOR OR OFFICIAL. THE RACE DIRECTOR AND TRACK
OFFICIALS SHALL BE EMPOWERED TO PERMIT MINOR DEVIATION FROM ANY OF THE SPECIFICATIONS
HEREIN OR IMPOSE ANY FURTHER RESTRICTIONS THAT IN OFFICIALS OPINION DO NOT
ALTER THE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE REQUIREMENTS. NO EXPRESSES OR IMPLIED WARRANTY
OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. ANY INTERPRETATION
OF DEVIATION OF THESE RULES IS LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE OFFICIALS.

Racing
is a family sports and one that should be enjoyable.
Please remember that we are here because of the Fans and Sponsors.
While racing can involve substantial financial stakes, this should
be your hobby and should be enjoyable.
There is NO excuse for bad or unruly behavior or conduct in anyway.
Please note that we do allow children in the pit area and therefore
we must act respectful and professional.
You drivers are the role models for these children.
We are here to promote clean family entertainment and you are the staring
role in this show!
THERE
IS NO TOLERANCE OF FIGHTING OR DISORDERLY CONDUCT. The LaSalle
Speedway management including the Race Director, Flagman and Security Officers
reserve the right to suspend any driver, crewmember, or spectator that is
fighting or conducting themselves in a disorderly manner.

Children in the pit area should be accompanied by an adult at all times,
take care of your children, watch for them and watch over them.
Any child that comes in the pits weekly should have a current annual
minors release form signed, this can be done at the pit trailer.

Any crewmember going out onto the race surface to aid in a fight will be ejected
from the speedway and so will his driver.
Keep your crewmembers in check. Drivers and cars owner are responsible
for their crews. Anyone attacking a speedway official will be subject to arrest.

2008 MIDWESTERN LATE MODEL RULES
Engine
1) Maximum engine setback 6 inches for tube studs measured from the forward most plug to the ball joint center
2) Steel Blocks ONLY
3) Aluminum heads allowed
4) Aluminum intakes and headers allowed
5) 4412 Holley 500 CFM 2-barrel carb only--Maximum 1.451 inch venturi bore
Transmission
1) Must be able to shift to forward and reverse while engine is
running
2) No direct drives- must be bolted to engine
Driveshaft
1) Minimum 2” diameter 18 gauge steel drive shaft or aluminum driveshaft.
2) All drive shafts must be painted white or silver, and must be protected by a minimum of two (2) safety hoops or a sling. 3) 3) 3) 3) Mandatory driveshaft safety hoop made of at least .25 inch by 2 inch steel strap or 1-inch tubing, mounted 6 inches back from front of drive shaft.
Fuel System
1) All cars must have fuel cells to FT3 specifications – 35 gallon maximum. The fuel cell must be in a completely enclosed, in minimum 20-gauge steel or 0.060” aluminum, container. The entire container must be visible. The driver must be prepared to drain fuel upon request for measurement.
2) The fuel pick up must be on the top or right side of the fuel cell, be constructed of steel and must have a check valve in case of roll over.
3) Only racing gasoline is permitted. No Alcohol, No nitrous oxide, nitromethane, or propylene oxide is permitted. Fuel may be checked at any time.
4) The FT3 fuel cell must be securely mounted behind the rear axle between the rear tires, a minimum of four inches ahead of the rear bumper, no lower than the quick change housing. It must be mounted with a minimum of two .125 inch thick steel straps two inches wide around the entire cell. Cells mounted in a square tubing fame are permitted. All cells must be securely mounted to the frame. The bolts used to mount the fuel cell must be a minimum of 7/16”.
5) No fuel injection system or electrical fuel pumps or any type of pressurized fuel system is permitted. Only mechanical or belt driven fuel pumps are permitted.
Exhaust
1) The exhaust is not permitted to be directed towards the ground. (The exhaust must be parallel to the ground so as to disturb as little dust as possible.)
2) All headers must end with a collector.
Frame
1) The wheel base width must be between a minimum of one hundred and three inches (103”)
2) All frames must be of steel construction and must be a minimum of two inches by two inches square (2” x 2”), or rectangular, with a minimum material thickness of .083 inches.
3) If a round tube frame is used, the tubing must have a minimum of one and three quarter inch (1.75”) outside diameter, with a minimum material thickness of .083 inches. These frames must use 4130 Chrome Moly Steel or DOM for construction.
4) If the rear bumper is stubbed, it may only extend a maximum of eight inches (8”) beyond the frame. Any stubbed rear bumper that extends in excess of eight inches (8”) beyond the frame must be rounded and directed eight inches towards the front of car.
5) No external rub rails are permitted.
6) All cars MUST be equipped with a tow hook or strap.

Roll Cage
1) Cars must have a suitable steel roll cage in the driver’s compartment
2) Should the drivers seat not have a suitable right side padded headrest, or right side head net, one must be attached onto the roll cage.
3) Side roll bars are mandatory and must extend into the door panels.
4) A minimum of three bars must be used on the left side of the car. Each bar must be a minimum of one and one half inch (1 ½”) in diameter with a minimum thickness of .065”.
5) The roll cage must be welded to the frame.
6) The roll cage must be above the driver’s helmet.
Interior
1) No area of the interior of the cockpit can be less than eleven inches (11”) below the roof and the roll cage for safety and easy exiting of car from either side measured straight up and down. If the front of the roof as a rolled under lip for strength, then you will not be required to have 11 inches in the front, but the top of the roof still must be 11 inches
2) Side windows must have fifteen inches (15”) minimum opening, measured at an angle to the door.
3) No support bars are permitted to block the right window exit from the cockpit.
4) A rock guard (lexan screen) can taper back from the steering wheel to a height of one inch (1’’) in line with the driver’s chest providing the eleven inch (11”) minimum clearance is met at any point from the roll cage to the body or rock guard.
5) Dropped interiors may begin no further forward than the rear engine plate with a maximum of four inches (4”), and cannot drop below four inches (4”) of the rear of the hood. The start of the dropped interior may not be open, as this forms part of the fire wall. The entire width must be closed off in sheet metal.
6) The interior must gradually taper up to the quarter panel height and be level for twenty inches (20”) from the rear of the quarter panel and deck.
Driver Compartment
1) A full metal firewall must encompass the driver’s compartment from front to rear, on both sides and the floorboards. Aluminum or sheet metal is required.
2) The driver’s seat must be of a proper high back aluminum racing seat design, located on the left side of the car and securely attached to the frame. This seat must incorporate a padded headrest. A right side padded head rest must be incorporated in the absence of a head net or padded head support attached to the roll cage..
3) All cars must have a quick-release type steering wheel.
4) All cars must have a working starter, operated from inside the car.
5) No mirrors are permitted.
6) No radios are permitted in the car or on anyone connected with car.
7) The edges around the driver’s cockpit must be suitably protected with trim or beading. Care must be taken not to have any sharp, jagged or rough fasteners, brackets or anything else that could snag the driver’s suit when the driver exits the car.
8) A substantial rock guard steel screen must be mounted in front of the driver to protect him from flying debris, and rocks.
Rear End
1) Any type of rear end differential is permitted.
2) No “live axle” rear ends are permitted.
3) No independent rear suspension is permitted.
4) Only floater “wide five” hub assemblies are permitted.
Body
1) Body must conform to attached late model drawing
2) All cars must have tow hook front and back
3) All structural tubing must remain inside body.
Exterior
1) Must be kept neat appearing at all times
2) Must be number in legible 18" high both doors
3) Must have roof number 24" high facing grandstand side
4) Must have tow hooks front and rear
Traction Control Devices
1) All traction control devices utilizing wheel sensors or any means of measuring ground speed to control wheel spin are strictly prohibited.
2) Adjustable ping control devices, dial a chip controls, timing controls, or automated throttle controls are NOT permitted in the cockpit or any other position accessible to the driver.
3) Any remote controlled components inside or outside the cockpit of any competitor’s race car are NOT permitted.
4) No data acquisition systems are permitted.
Tires

Safety
1) Five point
seat belt system including a crotch belt is required. The system is to be
mounted to the frame and not to the floor pan. The mounts must be run at the
same direction, as the belts are intended to secure the driver. The belt
webbing must be protected from any sharp cutouts in the sheet metal or any
other sharp edges. The date on the belt must not exceed 4 years

3) Any attached weights must be securely attached to frame below the decking. Weights of up to 50 pounds must be secured by two half inch Grade 5 bolts on two weight clamps. Clamp around weights are permitted.

5) No lead pellets or liquid weights are permitted.
6) No driver-operated weight adjustment devices are permitted.
