Bobby Pierce & Tyler Erb Take Center Stage at LaSalle Speedway for the "Twisted Twin 25's"
LaSalle, IL – May 30, 2025 — The LaSalle Speedway & Event Center came alive once again on Friday night as the MARS Racing Series "Twisted Twin 25's" presented by Arizona Sport Shirts — the second race night of 2025. Fans filled the grandstands, eager to witness the high-octane action that kicked off the highest-paying race weekend in the track’s history. With a $25,000 grand prize on the horizon, the night set the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend.
Bobby Pierce Dominates Early on in Heat Races
Oakwood, Illinois' Bobby Pierce, fresh off his victory at the May 6th FloRacing Night in America, picked up right where he left off. The 31-car field was charged with anticipation as Pierce set quick time, sending a clear signal that he was ready for the challenge. In the first of three heat races, Pierce powered to a commanding victory, finishing ahead of Daryn Klein and Brandon Sheppard.
Heat Race #2 saw the "Moweaqua Missile" Shannon Babb take the top spot, with Jason Feger and Tony Jackson Jr. rounding out the top three. Heat Race #3 was claimed by Chris Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, with Dennis Erb Jr. and McKay Wenger securing second and third respectively.
The Twist: Two 25-Lap Features & Inverted Top Ten
Fans were in for a special treat on Friday night, as the "Twisted Twin 25's" format introduced a unique twist to the evening’s proceedings. The first 25-lap feature event saw Bobby Pierce dominate from start to finish, leading every lap to secure a $5,000 payday. The victory lane celebration was short-lived, however, as the top ten finishers were immediately inverted for the second 25-lap feature, creating a new challenge for the front-runners.
Tyler Erb Surges to Victory in the Second Feature
With the grid reshuffled, Tony Jackson Jr. took the pole position for the second feature, but it didn’t take long for New Waverly, Texas’s Tyler Erb to make his move. Erb quickly seized the lead and never looked back, despite a strong charge from Ryan Unzicker in the closing laps. Unzicker closed in on Erb but fell just short as Erb crossed the line to secure the victory in the second feature. Both Pierce and Erb shared Victory Lane honors, celebrating the unique format that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The Weekend Ahead: $25,000 Illinois Valley Showdown
The Friday night action was just the beginning of what’s shaping up to be a historic weekend at LaSalle Speedway. Tomorrow night, the MARS Racing Series Late Models will take to the track for the “Illinois Valley Showdown” presented by Arizona Sport Shirts — the highest-paying race in LaSalle Speedway history with a staggering $25,000-to-win on the line.
