Cars Hit the Track for First Time in 2026 at LaSalle Speedway Open Practice Night
The sights and sounds of racing returned to LaSalle Speedway & Event Center on Sunday night as drivers and teams gathered for the track’s Open Practice Night, marking the first on-track action of the 2026 season.
A strong turnout of competitors representing a variety of divisions filled the pit area, eager to shake down their equipment after a long offseason. Fans also made their way into the grandstands, getting an early glimpse of the machines and talent that will define the upcoming racing campaign.
Speedway promoter Tony Izzo Jr. expressed optimism about the season ahead and the energy surrounding the return to racing.
“It’s always exciting to get cars on the track after the fall and winter,” Izzo said. “We will continue to get the track in top shape so fans can expect good, solid, competitive racing all season long.”
Attention now turns to Tuesday, May 5th, when LaSalle Speedway hosts the season opener with FloRacing Night in America. The event is expected to draw national attention as top Late Model drivers from across the country converge on the facility to compete for a $20,000 winner’s purse. The program will also feature UMP Modifieds, setting the stage for an action-packed kickoff to the 2026 racing season.
Fans can secure tickets for most events throughout the season by visiting the track’s official website at lasallespeedway.com.
